Brigandine
Aluminum Plates in Suede Covering

This was armor that I made for myself when I fought in rattan combats. It is based
on early period brigandines which typically had larger plates than later examples.
Reinforcing leather strips were added to high-stress areas. I learned after I had made
the armor that suede is not a period leather finish, so just pretend that it's velvet.
I don't ordinarily work with aluminum-this project was sort of a fluke.

The brigandine is relatively light and quite flexible, owing to the large number of small
plates arranged within a supple covering.
